THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH (What’s true for you may not be true for me)

1. It’s self defeating
2. Truth is very narrow
2+2=4 has only one right answer and infinite false ones
3. An absolute truth - Gravity
3. An absolute truth – everyone will die.
4. Adolf Hiltler believed it was right to kill 6 million Jews.
5. No moral absolute? When is rape OK? It’s wrong for all people, all places, and at all times.


I DON’T BELIEVE GOD EXISTS.

Creation has creator – Shirt
Art has an artist - Painting
Design has a designer – Watch
Order has an orderer – Line of chairs

Creation – stars, oceans, mountains, man
Art – Sunset
Design – DNA
Order – location of planets

An anthropologist sees scratches on a rock and infers the intelligent design of a tool. Then looks at man and can’t see design because he’s already made his mind up about God. Who really has the faith here.

I DON’T BELIEVE THE BIBLE IS TRUE.

Guess what? You don’t have to believe the Bible to be saved. You just need to come to Christ and then by God’s grace you can learn to trust and believe the bible.

3 Approaches to counter.

1. JUDO not boxing

Throw them off balance by defending their position. Point out the main purpose of the Bible is so we can know how to have eternal life and ask them to explain what they understand about that. Usually get a works answer (Be good – go to heaven, Be bad - go to Hell) and then point out that’s 180 degrees from what the Bible teaches and your sure they would not want to reject this without first hearing what the Bible proclaims. Remember the Gospel is the power unto salvation for everyone who hears it.

2. Apologetic Approach

History – No historical errors have ever been uncovered.
Archeology – 25,000 finds relating to the Bible and none disprove the biblical record
Prophesies – More than 2000 have been fulfilled with 333 Christ specific in the Old Testament. Only exception is the second coming.

3. “Let’s assume for the sake of this conversation that the Bible is the Word of God,” then get back to the presentation.

HOW CAN JESUS BE THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN?

1. Remember truth is by definition narrow.
2. Sin - Only Jesus claims to forgive sin.
3. Cross – If there were another way the crucifixion was not necessary.
4. Claims – Jesus claims to be God. True or false? Said he would be resurrected, When he was he proved he was God. Historically documented by 100s.
Jesus claims to be the way. John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

HOW CAN THERE BE A GOD WITH SO MUCH EVIL IN THE WORLD.

O. The origin of evil is man who chose to sin,
N. The nature of God is to forgive and he uses tragedy to bring us to Him.
C.S. Lewis said, “God whispers to us in pleasure, speaks in our conscience, and shouts in our pains – it is a megaphone for a deaf world.”
E. End of it all Rev 21:4. God promises the hope of a new heaven where all tears are wiped away.

HOW COULD A LOVING GOD SEND PEOPLE TO HELL?

Man chooses to sin and ignore God. God doesn’t send them they choose and condemn themselves.

WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF JESUS?

God doesn’t send anyone to Hell because the haven’t heard of Jesus – Hell is not a penalty for ignorance it’s a penalty for sin, Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

I NEED TO CLEAN UP MY LIFE BEFORE I CAN BE A CHRISTIAN.

Clean Fish Example: To clean a fish you have catch him first. God wants you to trust Jesus then he can give His grace to change you.
