Asking the right questions
FINDING OUT WHERE A PERSON IS SPIRITUALLY
Diagnostic Question #1 (Do they THINK they have assurance?)
Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that when you die would go to heaven or is that something you’d say you are still working on?
The Bible says we can know for sure that we’re going to heaven when we die. It says, “I write these things so that you may know you have eternal life.” (1John 5:13)
(That’s a KNOW SO thing in a HOPE SO world.)
May I share with you how I came to know I came to know I have eternal life and how you can also?
Before I do that may I ask you another question?
Diagnostic Question #2 (What are they trusting in?)
Suppose you were to die today and you found yourself standing before God and He asked you, “Why should I let you into My heaven?” What would you say to Him?
You must get an answer!
• Re-word
• Generalize (what would you say the requirements are)
• State what you thought (golden rule, 10 commandments)
• Agree they just don’t know what the requirements are.
Listen and repeat their answer so they can’t say later, “That’s what I really meant.”
Interpret the answers
Question #1 Question#2 Diagnosis Treatment
1. YES Trust Christ Christian Listen to their testimony
2. NO Trust self Non Christian Share the Gospel
3. YES Trust Self Self Righteous Share the Gospel
4. NO Trust Christ Lacks Assurance Share the Gospel
How to deal with a wrong answer?
When I heard your answer to the first question I thought I had some good news for you, but after hearing your answer to the second question I know I’ve got the greatest news you’ve ever heard. That quite a statement isn’t it?

CHILDHOOD CONVERSION OUTLINE

Personal Testimony
Personal Testimony means your subjective EXPERIENCE of eternal life.
Eternal life has two dimensions:
1. Blessings of knowing Christ here and now
Fellowship - Christian Fellowship and Friends
Love - God fills us with His love.
Freedom from fear - especially death which leaves some frozen.
New perspectives
2. The everlasting life of growing to know Him even better throughtout eternity. A testimony should always end with a statement of this assurance:
"THE BEST THING ABOUT HAVING ETERNAL LIFE IS THAT I KNOW THAT IF I DIED RIGHT NOW I WOULD GO TO HEAVEN."
Your testimony is used just prior to the diagnostic questions, therefore, do not include the Gospel or use the name of Christ in your testimony. It programs the listner with the answer to the 2nd diagnostic questions.
Avoid cliches and words that are MEANINGLESS to the non-Christian.
We use the phrase received eternal life as a synonym for:
Trusted Christ as my Savior
Repented of my sins...
Covered by the blood
Received Jesus
Born again

Detailed Hand Presentaion
THUMB...Like a free ride given to a hitchhiker
- Heaven is a free gift - Romans 6:23
- It is not earned or deserved - Ephesians 2:8-9
This is more easily understood when we see what the bible says about man...
INDEX FINGER....used to point out the flaws in others, but we have three fingers pointing back at ourselves.
It reminds us that...
- Man is a sinner - Romans 3:23
- He cannot save himself - Matt 5:48
We can better see why man can't save himself when we understand what the Bible teaches about God...
GREAT FINGER...Reminds us of the greatest Person in the universe, God.
- God is merciful and doesn't want to puish us - 1 John 4:8b
- But, God is also just and must punish our sin - Exodus 34:7b
This presents a problem for us that God solved thorough the person of Jesus Christ...
RING FINGER...Reminds us of Christ because we are the Bride fo Christ.
- Jesus Christ is the infinite God-Man (fully God, fully man) - John 1:1, 14
- He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and purchase a place in heaven for us - 1 Peter 3:18
We receive the Gift of Eternal life through Faith...
LITTLE FINGER...Reminds us of faith, it is small, like a mustard seed.
- Saving Faith is not mere head knowledge nor temporary faith. - James 2:19
- Saving Faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation - Acts 16:31
Okay I know we all want to read our Bibles this year and some of us will make it through the entire Bible. Earlier I sent out helps on accomplishing that in an email. I have also posted that below.
